Melba Faye Wolf, 83, of Dam B, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026 at Woodville Health & Rehab Center in Woodville, Texas.
A Celebration of Faye’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Woodville Global Methodist Church in Woodville, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Doug Wintermute.
Faye was born June 2, 1942 to Joseph and Rosalee Hebert in Kemah, Texas. Soon thereafter, her family moved to Port Acres, Texas where her father became employed with the Gulf Oil Corp. She was baptized at the age of six at St. Mary Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas. Faye was and continued to be a very petite person. This prompted friends and family to give her the moniker, T-Faye, Cajun for “Little Faye.”
She attended public school at Stephen F. Austin in Port Acres from first grade to graduation in 1960. She played the clarinet in the school band from sixth through twelfth grade. During her sophomore thru senior years, she was a majorette in the band. While attending high school, she studied cosmetology, and became a licensed beautician.
Faye and Alton met on a blind date in June of 1960 thru mutual friends. Alton had just completed a hitch in the U.S.M.C., and for him it was truly love at first sight. Faye was more cautious, warming up slowly in the relationship. Alton proposed, and they were wed on March 17, 1961. Their first daughter, Alicia Elaine was born March 3, 1962. Allison Faye joined the family on November 15, 1963.
Throughout her life she was a gentle, selfless, loving, and caring person. She had a special affinity for young children. She was a very skilled seamstress sewing clothing for her daughter, herself, and later on for Amanda Brooke Carmona. For Amanda as a child, she used A.B.C. buttons.
She was a skilled chef. For holiday get togethers, everyone expected her to prepare Cajun dirty rice. She did not disappoint. Through the years, she prepared many gallons of shrimp and crab gumbo for Alton to take to work and share with coworkers.
Faye worked thirty years as a school secretary in the P.A.I.S.D. During her last five years, she worked in the Administration Office and was in charge of all testing in the district.
She was the glue that held our family together. Faye was overly generous with her love. Her passing has left a void in our lives which can never be filled.
We love you Faye, may you rest in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rosalee Hebert; siblings, Willie Mae Dore, Kathrine Schmidt, June Rose Scrofne, Hallie Bennet, Dorothy Thigpen, and Josephet Hebert Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alton Wolf; daughters, Alicia Elaine Wolf and husband, Michael Nickell, and Allison Faye Wolf; brother, Edwin Hetzel; and grandchildren, Amanda Brooke Carmona, Alexander Morton Nickell, and Elliott Martin Nickell.
