The FM 2610 bridge at Menard Creek near the Polk County and Liberty County line closed Tuesday to allow Longview-based contractor THK Construction LLC to demolish the existing bridge and construct a new one over the creek.
North of the work zone, drivers will be directed to detour onto SH 146 in Polk County. South of the work zone and in Liberty County, traffic will detour on to FM 787, then to SH 146. Signs will be in place guiding motorists through the detours.
Drivers should use caution, slow down, and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
This project and the closure are expected to take approximately six months, weather permitting.
