Brenda Clifton has been named the interim president of the Livingston-Polk County Chamber of Commerce.
“Under her leadership, we are excited about the future as we build on the success of our programs and initiatives, continuing to support our members and promote local businesses,” a statement from the chamber’s board of directors said.
“The chamber remains committed to driving positive impact and advancing opportunities for our members and the local economy. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we embark on this next chapter together,” the statement concluded.
An investigation by the Livingston Police Department is presently underway.
“I received a call from a board member who believed some money was missing. It’s still in the early stages, but it does appear some funds were used inappropriately, so we’ve requested a forensic audit,” Livingston Police Chief Matt Parrish said.
Yvonne King, who recently celebrated 25 years with the chamber, is no longer there.
“This comes as a shock and with a heavy heart, but the board was not confident in her ability to lead the chamber. It’s just very disheartening,” Chamber Board Chairman Matt Anderson said.
