Several personnel matters dominated the regular meeting of the Polk County Commissioners Court Tuesday. The Court approved personnel action form requests submitted by department heads since the last meeting and reviewed two authorized emergency hires in human resources.
The Court approved payment of vacation time accrued by Corrections Officer Bobbi Songer and Deputy Kristoffer Acly due to the fact that neither are able to take vacation due to staffing issues, and also approved paid overtime for patrol deputies assisting with jail transport duties.
The Court also approved the reclassification of the permit secretary position to secretary II and supplement pay for the on-site sewage facility designated representative certification.
An order regulating certain fireworks in the unincorporated areas of the county during the December holiday period was approved.
A request to solicit bids for the purchase of a tractor with side boom mower for Precinct 4 Road and Bridge, to be financed and paid for from the Precinct 4 budget, was approved.
The Court approved an amendment to the agreement with Komatsu for courthouse architecture services. The amendment was necessitated by generator-related work in addition to the relocation of the tax assessor-collector’s office to the basement of the courthouse.
Delinquent taxes on buyout properties in Holiday Lake Estates were discussed, with the Court approving an exemption for the county.
An agreement with BCA DX Laboratory for laboratory services at the jail was approved. This action will not only streamline services, but will also prevent having to transport inmates for blood draws.
Fiscal year 2025 and 2026 budget revisions and amendments as presented by the county auditor’s office were approved.
During informational reports, the Polk County Healthy County Committee announced the winner of the Christmas door decorating contest is the IT department and the Polk County Safety Committee presented the fiscal year 2025 Excellence in Safety award to Rachel Hill with Aging Services.
