Polk County First Assistant District Attorney Michael L. Davis was indicted by the Montgomery County grand jury March 31 for the alleged unlawful installation of a tracking device on a motor vehicle, a criminal offense under Texas law.

Davis turned himself in at the Jasper County Jail Thursday morning, posted a pre-set bond of $2,500 and was released.

The Polk County District Attorney’s Office issued a statement via social media Thursday.

“The matter is not related to his official duties or employment with this office. Effective immediately, Mr. Davis has been placed on administrative leave pending further review. The office remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability and public trust. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide additional information as appropriate,” the statement said.

“Montgomery County has been very professional. They gave me a courtesy call and told me this was going on,” Polk County Criminal District Attorney Shelly Sitton said.

No additional details have been released at this time.
