The Livingston Lions Club inducted two new members Wednesday – Lynn Sasser and Philip Allison, bringing its total membership to 101.
Sasser was sponsored by Lion Karl Shank. He served as the youth pastor at Central Baptist Church from 1983-1991 and then left and spent 26 years as a missionary and pastor in Costa Rica and Mexico. He and his wife, Sandra, retired and moved back here in 2022. Since then, he preaches at different churches, volunteers at Center of Hope and is a hospital chaplain. He and his wife have three grown children, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Allison was sponsored by Lion Dr. Mike Shukan. He was born in New Zealand, raised in Australia and came to the United States in 1999. He originally came over with Carrier AC when he was in the HVAC business. He has a wife, two daughters and three grandchildren. He owns and operates All Curbs, a decorative garden, bed and landscaping service. He also manufactures banjos.
During Wednesday’s meeting, checks were presented to representatives of SAAFE House and SPCA of Polk County.
The Lions Club Christmas Party is slated for 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at Cho-Yeh. Additionally, the Christmas tree lot in front of First National Bank Westside opened Thursday. Lions will be selling trees from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. on Sundays.
