LISD approves staff pay increases

The Board of Trustees of the Livingston Independent School District approved compensation plans with staff pay increases for the 2025-2026 school year during a special called meeting Wednesday.

First-year teachers will receive a base salary of $60,000. Second-year teachers will receive a local retention stipend of $1,000 and third-year teachers will receive a local retention stipend of $2,000. Fourth- and fifth-year teachers will receive a base salary increase of $4,000 from the State Teacher Retention Allotment and sixth-year teachers and beyond will receive a base salary increase of $8,000 from the State Teacher Retention Allotment.

All paraprofessionals will receive a salary increase of 6% of the midpoint of their pay grade.

Classroom aides will receive an additional adjustment to bring the starting salary to $20,000.

In the transportation department, first-year bus drivers will receive an hourly rate of $20. Experienced bus drivers will receive an hourly rate increase of 25 cents times the number of years completed as a bus driver. All other transportation staff will receive a salary increase of 6% of the midpoint of their pay grade.

Campus professional support (counselors, nurses, librarians, etc.) will receive a salary increase equal to the State Teacher Retention Allotment ($4,000 or $8,000, based on years of experience).

Campus administration will receive a salary increase for all positions based on the market. District professional support and administration will receive a salary increase for select positions based on the market.

In other activity, the board participated in a Texas Association of School Boards “Team of Eight” training.
