Livingston ISD Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Tucker Carter and Assistant Athletic Director/Head Softball Coach Heather Mosser recently presented a program for the Livingston Lions Club.
“Fall sports are in full swing – team tennis, cross country, volleyball and football. We had a really good summer, averaging 120 boys a day from seventh grade to seniors. We’ve got the momentum going. And we have a new motto, Restore the Roar, that’s about being proud to be a Lion, doing things the right way and not hoping, but expecting to win,” Carter said.
He added that the program has undergone some rebranding and also how has a digital app for ticketing.
Carter bragged on Coach Mosser and her work. “She’s created a culture on the girls’ side that’s hard to replicate,” he said.
Regarding team tennis, Carter said the team is four matches in and is one and zero in district. Cross country is two matches in and the boys have had a first and third finish and the girls have had a first and fourth finish. He said volleyball has had a very serious pre-season schedule, but that the team is working hard and recovering from injuries.
As for football, Carter said the team started out with a scrimmage versus Coldspring and then a scrimmage against Woodville, both of which are 3A teams.
“I’m very proud of our kids. We started varsity, then put JV in and got some good reps,” he said. “We’ve played a 6A team, scrimmaged two 3A teams and have a 3A and 4A coming up.”
Carter said he is excited about the season, the team has stayed relatively healthy and expects to win. He added that he has five kids on the varsity team that didn’t play last year, but have been significant contributors in the game. He also added that he is really proud of special teams.
“There is no recipe for winning. We’ve got to adapt and adjust,” he said.
