There’s a new – yet familiar – face at the Polk County Chamber of Commerce. Kim Jernigan is the new administrative assistant, effective June 23.
“I’m super excited that Kim is working with me at the Chamber and I’m excited about the things we’ll accomplish together for the sake of the Chamber. We’re making changes and have new, exciting things coming,” President/CEO Brenda Clifton said. “It’s been nine long months to find the right person, but I think we got her.”
“I am thrilled to officially join the team at the Polk County Chamber of Commerce as an employee. This opportunity is both an honor and a natural extension of the work I’ve been passionate about for years,” Jernigan said. “I’m excited to bring the years of experience of being an Ambassador and board member to the chamber itself.”
She first began her volunteer work with the Chamber as an Ambassador 15 years ago. Since that time, she has served as president of the Ambassadors twice, and has also served on the board of directors, as well as on the executive board.
As a volunteer, she was twice named Ambassador of the year and twice named Director of the Year.
“Since beginning my volunteer journey with the Chamber in 2010, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside dedicated community leaders, supporting local businesses, and helping organize events that bring our community together. Over the years, I’ve gained valuable experience in outreach, event planning and member engagement – skills I’m excited to now bring to the table in an official capacity,” Jernigan said.
“I’m especially excited to work alongside Brenda Clifton, someone I’ve known for many years and deeply respect. I believe we will make a great team, and I look forward to collaborating with her to continue building a strong, connected and thriving Polk County,” she said.
Jernigan has a passion for non-profits and is integrally involved in two that have been recognized by the Chamber in recent years as Non-Profit of the Year – Livingston Lions Club and Sleep in Heavenly Peace – something she feels reflects her level of dedication.
“The Chamber plays a vital role in promoting and supporting small businesses and enhancing the quality of life in our community. I look forward to continuing that mission with fresh energy, new ideas and a deep commitment to the people and businesses that make Polk County so special. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together,” Jernigan said.
