The Board of Directors of the newly formed Livingston ISD Education Foundation – an independent nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization – was introduced at the regular meeting of the Livingston School Board Monday. Janan Moore serves as executive director of the foundation.
“While this is a school district role, my primary responsibility is to serve as the liaison to the Livingston ISD Education Foundation,” Moore said.
“The mission of the education foundation is to connect community resources to change the lives of students and staff. The goals and funding priorities include: expanding on the Green & White student scholarships; innovative teaching grants; recognition of academic achievement; recognition of teaching excellence; and capital projects,” Moore said.
The foundation was formed with the guidance and direction of Foundation Innovation LLC, a full-service consulting firm dedicated to guiding education foundations and schools to success. Its team of consultants has experience in the nonprofit arena, including administration, development, marketing and training specifically for public education foundations.
“In collaboration with Foundation Innovation, the foundation has established a board of directors, nominated by a steering committee of LHS alumni and community members. This board has assigned officer roles and responsibilities and has established the necessary bylaws. The foundation is eagerly anticipating its role in enhancing the instructional schematic within our Livingston schools,” Moore said.
The board of directors includes: President Dustin Andreas, Secretary Kari Parker, Vice President of Finance and Governance Brian Jones, Vice President of Events and Marketing Christina Wood, Vice President of Development Megan Rowe, Vice President of Programs Krislyn Placker, members Kevin Grimm, Patricia Snook, Derrika Jackson, Gary Davis and Superintendent Dr. Jeff Pack.
“The foundation will serve as an overarching entity with two distinct branches designed to support our community and district. One primary area of focus will be the continuation of the well-established Green & White scholarship program. For many years, this scholarship program has provided thousands of dollars to graduating seniors, helping them to achieve their post-secondary goals, whether they attend a four-year university or enroll in vocational training schools and programs. The founding is committed to ensuring the green and white scholarship program remains as strong and comprehensive as it is today,” Moore said.
“The second major initiative of the foundation is to provide a new enhancement for our district instructional staff. The foundation will offer teaching grants to classroom teachers to support innovate practices that optimize the student experience, both in and out of the classroom. These grants are designed to support activities that go beyond the scope of regular classroom budgets. Grant proposals will be reviewed to verify their alignment with existing curriculum and instruction standards and to ascertain any essential technology support requirements,” Moore said.
“The foundation is currently embarking on a crucial phase, actively welcoming inaugural financial contributions. These vital donations are sought from both our esteemed corporate sponsors and members of the wider LISD community and alumni organizations. We are excited about the significant impact these early contributions will have, as they are essential to building the initial endowment that will fund our future initiatives. Our ambitious, eagerly anticipated goal is to being distributing the first grant awards to support innovative educational projects at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. This milestone will mark the realization of our mission to enhance educational opportunities for our current students and educators, and to continue supporting our graduates,” Moore said.
