Chelsea Greve-Cockrum, director of Our Father’s House, presented a program for the Rotary Club of Livingston Thursday.
“Our Father’s House is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization called to be the hands and feet of Jesus here in Polk County. We provide basic services that any human being needs. Our Father’s House is a day mission in Livingston that helps with basic needs such as laundry, clothing, meals and other resources for the homeless community and those in need,” Greve-Cockrum said.
She said the organization feeds lunch to about 45 people a day Monday through Friday and also prepares “dinner bags” with five easy open meal items for the homeless daily, in addition to feeding breakfast in the mornings.
“We have a lot of people starting over – either they just got out of prison or they just got out of SAAFE House. As they come in, we do our best to supply their basic needs. There are many families that come in that have been in traffic events such as losing their house to fire,” Greve-Cockrum said.
She said Our Father’s House helps those in need of furniture, cookware, household items and more.
“We don’t as for payment for our services. We don’t pass judgement. We don’t do background checks. We don’t as for a state ID,” she said.
“Donations are always a constant need – specifically, hygiene items and mens’ pants,” she said.
“Other ways to partner with us are most importantly through prayer for the community and the clients we encounter, volunteering your time and also through recurring monetary donations. We cannot do this without people like you. All donations are tax-deductible and truly appreciated,” Greve-Cockrum said.
