The Onalaska City Council will canvass the May 3 General Election and approve a resolution declaring the results of the election during its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Three “at large” positions on the city council were on the ballot – those held by Shirley Gilmore, T.D. Jennings and Zachary Davies. Both Gilmore and Davies filed for reelection. Others that filed included Joseph Polizzi, Traci Dennison and Howard A. Smith. Unofficial results reflect that Davies and Gilmore will return to serve and will be joined by Smith. Davies received 175 votes, Gilmore received 159 votes and Smith received 131 votes. Polizzi received 50 votes and Dennison received 81 votes.
Certificates of election will be issued to the newly elected officers who will also be administered the oaths of office and will be seated. Additionally, a mayor pro tem will be elected.
Council will review and approve a resolution designating signatories for all city bank accounts.
Ordinance No. 463 regarding the regulation of sex offender residency will be reviewed and considered for approval.
A sign ordinance variance request from Ronald Francois will be considered.
In personnel matters, Council is expected to accept the resignation of Joshua Jenkins without notice.
Reports will be presented on behalf of the police department, fire department, fire marshal/fire inspector, building inspector/code enforcement officer and library.
Other items on the agenda include approval of the minutes, vouchers and financial reports.
Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. to hear public comment regarding consideration of a request submitted by the Kickapoo Forest Civic Association Subdivision Board of Directors to accept Kickapoo Creek formally known as Kickapoo Trail as a city street dedicated for public use.
