Funeral services for Ruth Ann Purvis, 84, of Livingston, Texas, were held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with David Powell officiating. Interment followed at Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation took place on the day of service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ruth was born October 6, 1940, in Nacogdoches, Texas and passed away May 6, 2025, in Livingston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Thomas Stricklen and Beatrice (Beardon) Stricklen; son, Marshall Wayne Purvis; brother, Charles Stricklen; and father of her children, Quentin Purvis.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who opened her home and heart to everyone, whether you needed a hug or a meal. The door was always open. Ruth was a mother who loved her boys with all she had and gave a little extra love to her many grandkids. She wore many hats during her years from business manager to a florist but her favorite was being MeMe to her grandbabies.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Purvis and wife Courtney; grandchildren, Jodi Purvis, Ashley Purvis and Brett Willmon, Dakota Purvis and Ally, and Lane Purvis and Kursten Tousha; six great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Stricklen; sister, Barbara Kent; and brother, Jerry Stricklen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Dakota Purvis, Lane Purvis, Kason Everitt, Brett Willmon, Kevin Stricklen and Wayne Munson.
