The Groveton school district continued its tradition of a Veterans Day lunch, serving veterans and their families in a way to honor the men and women who served this country.
Superintendent Jim Dillard, an architect of the event, said that in this 12 installment of the lunch, they fed 300 veterans and their families; the school also feeds teachers, staff members and law enforcement personnel.
In all, they made between 550 and 600 meals. To make those meals, they prepared 36 briskets and 44 racks of ribs, as well as provided sides and drinks.
Dillard praised the district for its work.
“The kids have taken this to a whole new level,” he said. “The student body and staff have taken hold of the event and made it a tradition, one they look forward to every year.”
