POINT BLANK — Three people were arrested June 9 in connection with an investigation into child pornography.

Gregory Powell, 49, Brian Powell, 47, and Kim Bird, 67, were arrested on charges related to the viewing and distribution of child pornography as well as drug possession charges.

According to information from the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division received information alleging that child pornography was being viewed and distributed by Gregory Powell.

Following an extensive investigation, surveillance operations, and the development of probable cause, investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence.

During the early morning hours of June 9, members of the SJC Sheriff's Office Operation Lone Star Task Force, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and DPS CID executed the search warrant.

The three suspects were inside the residence; officials discovered multiple electronic devices and viewing platforms allegedly containing child pornography, and both Gregory Powell and Brian Powell reportedly were in possession of child pornography depicting victims ranging from toddlers to children of undetermined age.

Investigators also located female child undergarments in the possession of Gregory Powell, which were seized as evidence and are being further examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Also, investigators found suspected methamphetamine in the residence.

All three individuals were taken into custody and charged with offenses related to the evidence discovered during the execution of the search warrant. Additional charges may be filed as the forensic examination of electronic devices and evidence continues.
