The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its Ischoopa Travel Center on Dec. 17, revealing 81 of its newest Class II gaming devices on the east side of the building with a convenience store equipped with a variety of snacks, tobacco and food concessions available on the west side. A 12-bay fuel station with diesel fuel, in partnership with Sunoco LP®, will also be available for customers.
“The expansion of our travel center not only provides economic benefits for our tribe but is also providing additional jobs and services for our community. Plus, local residents are excited that we’ve gone to a 24-hour operation, which is much needed in our area,” Ricky Sylestine, chairman of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Council, said.
The ribbon cutting ceremony at Ischoopa Travel Center included the tribes’ two tribal princesses performing the Lord’s Prayer followed by the ribbon cutting by First Chief Donnis Battise and Second Chief Herbert Johnson Jr.
“Our Naskila team has been working together very hard to make this a momentous day for Naskila and especially for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe,” General Manager Doug Searle said. “We’ve given the convenience store a new look while renovating the former tobacco store into a Class II gaming center for our guests to enjoy.”
The Alabama-Coushtta Tribe owns and operates the Naskila Casino which was first opened in 2016 with 365 Class II gaming devices. Today, Naskila Casino has over 900 of the newest Class II gaming devices, two cafes and a gift shop in addition to the Ischoopa Travel Center.
