The Trinity County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of a 5500 John Deere Tractor with 6 Foot Brush Hog at the Thursday meeting after a commissioner admonished the attending and viewing audience about his measure.

Neal Smith said he wanted to make sure that Facebook denizens and others were aware of his work, and claimed that he was being filmed while doing business at the county, and that he has been included in social media posts that did not include pertinent facts.

The tractor was a used one from Rising Son Church, one that can be used on roads that are not 20-feet wide, and costs $28,000, which will be paid for from ARPA grant funds, which has to spent by Dec. 31.

Additionally, for roadwork in Precinct 3, he has purchased rock and oil sand.

•In the only other items on the agenda, the court set Sept. 8 for a public hearing for the 2026-27 budget and tax rate.
