SAN JACINTO COUNTY — Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59, south of Shepherd, that occurred Dec. 10.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11:15 a.m., a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia towing a Polar tank trailer was traveling north. It is reported that the Freightliner traveled to the shoulder of the road after the front left tire suffered a blow out and the truck caught fire from the heat generated from the rim rolling on the asphalt and then spread to the trailer.
The driver of the Freightliner, 33-year-old Tony Fowler of Memphis, Tenn., was not injured.
