Where have all the fathers gone?

The title of this article did not originate from me. Apparently, there are others who have the same concern that I have.

At this very moment, a staggering number of children are growing up in homes without a father. Contrary to the sentiments of our culture, the presence of fathers within the home is vital to the moral integrity of a society. In this study, Mr. Alistair Begg points to Jacob as an example of fatherhood and encourages men to raise their children under the framework of God’s truth.

By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff. (Hebrews 11:21)

Sadly, our culture is declining rapidly as many fathers abandon their responsibilities.

I run into children who do not have a father in their lives. And many of them do not have a mother either.

My dad was a good father. He wasn’t perfect, but he loved his family very much. He sacrificed job promotions that would have given a substantial pay increase if he had taken those promotions out of the country. I remember him saying that he needed to be with his boys, his daughter, and our mother. He wasn’t interested in accumulating things. He was more concerned that we would grow up to be honest, decent people.

If you have a good father, thank God.

Ultimately, we all have a loving Father, in Heaven!
