Lewis Frederick White, affectionately known as “Lou,” passed away on May 30, 2026, in Houston, Texas, following a short battle with glioblastoma. Born March 28, 1940, in Elma, New York, Lou lived a remarkable life filled with adventure, hard work, curiosity, and devotion to family and friends.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clarkson University, his career took him around the world, including Turkey, Thailand, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Iraq, before he ultimately settled in Houston with his wife, Mary Anne “Kim” Kilgour, and their two daughters.

Although his career spanned continents, Lou found a special place to call his home away from home near Lake Livingston. For more than 40 years, he owned and operated a boat and storage business in the Trinity area, building lasting friendships and becoming part of the local community. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and being surrounded by the natural beauty of the lake and Texas landscape. He also enjoyed buying and selling cars, attending auctions, and managing his real estate properties. An engineer at heart, Lou was always curious, resourceful, and ready for his next project.

Lou was preceded in death by his wife, Kim, in December 2005. He is survived by his daughters, Karissa White and Danika Sayres (Jimmy), and five beloved grandchildren. He also leaves behind dear friends, neighbors, and members of the Trinity community who shared in his many years of adventures and memories.

A special place in Lou’s life was held by Debbie and Ken and their family, who helped care for his White Rock Storage business over the years. Their relationship grew far beyond business; they became trusted friends and family whom Lou depended on and cherished deeply.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Lou during his final months, especially those whose dedication and compassion brought him comfort.

Lou often described his life by saying, “It’s been one hell of a ride.” His adventurous spirit, quick wit, and love for nature and the people of Trinity will be remembered by all who knew him.

A celebration of Lou’s life will be held at White Rock Storage on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., where friends are invited to gather and share memories and stories.
