Some of you know I love to study history. I will admit that I sometimes get hypercritical because I see things in movies or read something that is historically inaccurate.
Years ago we were blessed by attending Texas’ 178th birthday party at Washington-on-the-Brazos. It had been at least 42 years since we had been there. We met a descendant of one of the signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence; and as I read the names of those who signed that great document, I thought about the price that was paid by those men.
And now the 190th anniversary of the fall of the Alamo is remembered. All of those who died there were made martyrs because they paid the ultimate price in giving their lives so Texas could be Texas. They dealt with 13 days of siege and sacrificed their lives.
So, as I am writing this article I wonder how many people would sacrifice their lives if they knew they only had 13 days to live. A friend of mine reminded me that there are those who serve who are still willing to pay the ultimate price for freedom.
Did you know that there was one Who paid the ultimate price for your sins? He went willingly to his death knowing full well that many would reject His sacrifice. But He did it!
Do you have 13 days left or are you living in such a way that your very soul might be in jeopardy?
Of course, you understand that you don’t know how many days you have left!
Consider the following: Luke 12:20-21 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
