Billy Wayne “Bill” Tolar, Sr., 81, of Doucette, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at his residence.
Visitation began at 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. service time on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Magnolia Cemetery all in Woodville. Officiating was Brother Milton Powers. Serving as pallbearers were Billy W. Tolar III, Ryan Weaver, Travis Weaver, Ricky Kenner, Brad Tolar, and Chris LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers are Casey Tolar, Marc Tolar, Lane Weaver, Clint Tolar, and Justin Tolar.
Bill was born May 19, 1944 to LeRoy and Dorothy Belle Grammer Tolar in Woodville, Texas. A longtime resident of Doucette, he was a 1962 graduate of the old Kirby High School in Woodville. He worked for many years in the family business, starting out with Magnolia Grocery, then North Magnolia Grocery and Tolar’s Feed, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Dorothy Tolar; wife of 43 years, Diana Tolar; and brother, Jerry Tolar.
He is survived by his sons, Billy Wayne Tolar, Jr. and wife Krystal of Woodville, and Bobby Tolar and wife Jennifer of Woodville; daughter, Glenda Tolar Hicks and husband Leslie of Silsbee; brother, Jesse Tolar of Doucette; sisters, Sherry Kenner and husband John of Woodville, and Kathy Weaver of Doucette; grandchildren, Matthew Hicks, Kaitlyn Hicks, Billy Wayne Tolar III “Trey”, Kaylee Tolar, Madison Tolar, Jackson Tolar, Huxley Tolar, Cason Reid, and Hunt Reid; and numerous other family and friends.
