Robert Lindsey “Goose” Conner, Sr., 82, of Woodville, passed away on October 1, 2025.
Born in Lufkin, Texas, to Tom and Nettie Conner, he spent most of his life in Woodville. He retired as a truck driver with over 50 years of service. True to his roots as a good old country boy, he loved his Dallas Cowboys, and everyone knew that when they were playing, he was cheering them on. Robert also enjoyed a good cup of coffee and thought everyone else should drink one when he did. When he asked if you wanted a cup of coffee, it was not a question. If he wasn’t watching the Cowboys or telling stories, he enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson Radio. He loved his family, but his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Hilda Irene Gilcrease Conner; children, Robert Conner, Jr.; and wife, Aleena, Annette Derouen and husband, Rodney, Ronnie Ener and wife, Gwen; grandchildren, Brandon Derouen and partner, Mara Muhs, Tyler Conner and partner, Kennedy Porter, Sylina Long and partner, Jacob Long, Will Conner and partner, Madison Ueckert, Savannah Ener, JR Ener and Garrett Derouen; great grandchildren, Beckham Conner, Adaline Long, Conner Long, Caroline Conner and Kace Conner and a host of other family members and friends.
A graveside service was held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Tom Havard Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas.
