It came quickly but we welcome cooler days and nights and can now say “It's fall.”
The Community and Children's Impact Center in Shepherd have been celebrating the seasons and events by decorating the tree outside their resale shop door. So, for now it is a fall tree. The Impact Center holds events and weekly “Get It Off Your Chest” meetings for young people on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Go to their Facebook page to know what is coming up or visit the resale location on North Byrd Street.
•DeeDee Bailey, who I featured last week at the dunking booth, was at a very different venue this last week.
The Memorial Park, located at the corner of Slade Street and Cochran Lane in Coldspring, is on its way. DeeDee says the parking lot went in last week and work is moving forward at last with this park, which will honor those who have died in service to our county. This will be a place for people to come to walk or rest, bring their children and talk with friends and neighbors. We can look forward to seeing it completed.

•Last Saturday some members of The Friends of Shepherd Library and Center for Spiritual Living Houston enjoyed a Garden Party at a member's home in Shepherd. Some of the church members have helped the Library with its fundraising and donations and everyone enjoyed the weather, cool but just right for sitting outside. The delicious food prepared by caterer Sylvia Scott and her sister, and was highly praised.
