In partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation and Livingston ISD, The Coalition, Inc. is announcing the formation of the Livingston High School Drug-Free Council, a new campus-based student group.
Drug-free council members are students who elect to be alcohol, drug and tobacco-free and conduct activities within their school to promote a substance-free life. The founding members of the Livingston High School Drug-Free Council include Brooklyn Vargas, Brooke Harbeck, David Solano, Isis McCloud, Casey Gokey and Emma Bradley. Mrs. Laura Gokey is the sponsor on campus and The Coalition’s staff assists with meetings and events.
At their most recent meeting, LHS drug-free students planned for National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week, an annual event that educates and empowers youth to make informed decisions about substance use and their health. National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week is scheduled for March 17-23 and the LHS drug-free council has activities scheduled for each day to help raise awareness about harmful substances with their peers.
Since 1988, The Coalition has focused on eliminating the use of harmful substances by affecting public policy, laws, attitudes and behaviors in order to foster healthy life-long choices for the local community.
