Fish Friday at Coldspring Senior Center was sponsored by Judge Travis Kitchens, but he had to be in court at that time, so he missed the great lunch, with cake as dessert and music by DJ Ken Janik and Gregg Cones who entertained while everyone enjoyed the meal.

The Judge invited Dale Everitt and friends, including 'just married' Luke and Carson, and Center Administrator Charline Smith, who told the full house that the SJC Women's League will be holding a Bingo Night there on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. Tickets (you must have one in advance — no tickets at the door) are on sale at the Senior Center now. Call the Senior Center to reserve a place for lunch or information about the fundraiser bingo at (936) 653-4175.

•Shepherd Library is holding a Book Sale this week. Fill a large bag with books for just $10. The bags are part of the sale, too. They are also preparing for the upcoming Trivial Pursuit Night on Nov. 8 to be held at Shepherd Community Center.

Bring your friends and create a team to play in this fun and very entertaining game. Last year was a big success. There will be food and a silent auction with some beautiful donations including the glass artwork shown in the photo. Debora, Casey and Director Terri McIntyre spent time designing these unique decorative works. Call the Library to know more at (936) 628-3515.

•More than 125 people came out to Coldspring Courthouse Square for a peaceful “No Kings” gathering on Saturday. There was a good response to the law enforcement presence with Sheriff Sam Houston and Chief Clint Headley of Shepherd providing it.

Some vendors had their stalls of goods there and sold produce, plants and more and background music was supplied by Gregg Cones who sang from the Gazebo.

Guest speakers were Democratic Chair Dennis Ready and Paul Thomasson, who is running for Senate, spoke to the crowd and the rally finished around 12:30 p.m. in time for lunch, when a very light shower fell.

•Early voting began on Monday and will continue on weekdays till Oct. 31. The location for this is at the Elections Administration Building, 51 E. Pine St., in Coldspring. Election Day is Nov. 4 at all the local boxes — Shepherd Community Center, Evergreen Community Center, Bear Creek VFD, Point Blank Precinct 4 Annex, Oakhurst Fire Dept and New Hope Baptist Church on FM 2025.

The School Bond is an important issue for COCISD and there are lots of amendments. Both Republican and Democratic parties hold meetings on the second Tuesday of each month.
