Event allows hikers to explore Big Thicket at night

WARREN — The Big Thicket National Preserve is inviting the public to come out and explore the “Big Thicket by Lamplight” on Friday, June 12 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The hour-long hike will take hikers down the Sundew Trail near Warren, and it is free to attend.

Participants will need to bring a flashlight and some shoes suitable for hiking. According to organizers, the hike will explore some of the stories that make the Big Thicket special and mysterious, and that if you enjoy legends and real-life stories of the region, this hike is for you.

It is a one-hour hike, and the location is the Sundew Trail, located on County Road 1910 near Warren. The GPS coordinates are: 30.548225, -94.409754.
