Facing the bad weather after a fortifying week

Posted

Monday was a beautiful day. The banks were closed, the school was closed, and the Post Office wasn’t open either. My group played golf in another town and said the weather was perfect.

Now for the good or bad news. We are supposed to have a cold front with icy conditions over the weekend.

This is good news to me because when we do have a freeze in January, it means we kill a lot of annoying insects and have less mosquitos in the spring. The only preparation I make for ice storms is to buy extra jugs of water for drinking and candles in case the electricity goes out.

Last year I was not staying home. I just went to the Holiday Inn in Huntsville to weather out the storm and living conditions. We even housed the fur babies.

If the storm does materialize, I will just add more blankets to my bed, and eat dips, cheese and crackers to pass the time away. Last week I was so distraught over the way the United States government was operating, it will probably be better that the electricity does go off and I can’t watch TV. However, there is always an upside — your iPhone.

  • Monday was a holiday for Martin Luther King Jr. It is a national holiday, but there was not much to do about it because we need to invade Greenland where only 57,000 people live. Did you know that’s not bigger in population than Spring?

We already have many military bases there so, tell me again why Demark did not give President Trump the Peace Prize, and why he needed it. I am confused. I did not know The President and his family went ice skating when they lived in New York, and he missed the winter sports so much.

  • Trinity Methodist Church had its Spaghetti Dinner with friends on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and the VFW will have its dance on Saturday, Feb. 7, and dance away on their new floor that they raised money for in December of last year. Life goes on in Trinity as usual.
  • The next big event in Trinity is the Trinity County Crime Stoppers Mardis Gras Cowboy Gala on Jan. 31 at the Trinity Community Center, 640 S. Robb Street.

I advised everyone to get tickets to this event, because I knew it was going to be sold out fast. The tickets are no longer available, probably because it is a political year and nominees need to be able to meet and greet old and new voters whenever possible. This is a good event where candidates can solicit promises from constituents to vote for them.

This is a dinner and dance free to law enforcement agencies and their wives to honor them for their daily work, and to honor those who have gone beyond the call of duty.
