Easter weekend was awesome. Despite the rain, each special event occurred and was successful.
The River Pointe Rehabilitation Easter Egg Hunt on Friday was a huge hit with the Easter Bunny photo booth, free snow cones and popcorn, with lots of candy and prizes for the children attending. The weather was great and the parking lot was full of happy children
VFW Post 6899 had more than a hundred guests and the rain came later. The children played some of the games inside as the temperature rose outside. Free hot dogs and barbecue sandwiches were on the menu, and a fun time was had by all.
The Children’s Center, the Baptist Day Care Center in town had an Easter party for its children on Friday and created much fun and joy for their small clients during the day downtown.
On Friday, Martin Senior Center Easter Luncheon and Egg Extravaganza was held. More than 50 people attended, enjoyed the Easter luncheon of ham, turkey, broccoli cheese casserole, green beans, and sweet potatoes.
There were games, raffles, door prizes, and Easter Eggs to hunt. The best dressed woman and man were awarded $25 each. Money or gift baskets went to the coloring contest winners.
For your information, the next special luncheon will be Tuesday, May 5, better known as Cinco de Mayo Day. Watch this space for details.
Last but not least, on Easter Sunday was the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser. No disappointments here. The fish was great, the French fries, coleslaw, pinto beans, and hush puppies were also done perfectly, and all I can say is kudos to these men of the volunteer fire department of Trinity. We are lucky to have them.
April 10-11, Friday and Saturday, the Westwood Shores Subdivision Garage sale starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 a.m. each day. The location for the sale is FM 356, 3 miles east of Trinity.
April 11, the Trinity Lions Club 3rd Annual Car Show is being held on 103 Stadium St. from at 10 a.m. until at 3 pm. The show is free to the public.
April 11, the Maxie and Eddie Afternoon Dance at the VFW Hall starts at noon and ends at 4 p.m. The country band performing is True Country. Cost is $15. The cantina is open, but the snack hall is closed at this time.
April 12, the VFW Hall on Caroline Street is having a spring patio basket raffle. Tickets can be purchased at the Cantina.
April 18 is the TISD Junior/ Senior Prom.
April 21, First Methodist Church of Trinity is hosting their monthly Dinner with Friends on Tuesday starting at 4:30-6 p.m. located at 131 N. Elm St.
Remember teachers in May. May 4-7 is Teacher Appreciation Week, so donate treats and eats for your child’s campus if you can.
May 5, Martin Senior Service Center is hosting a Cinco de Mayo luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Walker Street.
May 7, TISD Fine Arts Department is hosting their fourth annual gala fundraiser with everything sponsored by the students. Food, drinks, dessert, and hors d’oeuvres are prepared by the students, and a drama show is performed by them after dinner. This event is held in the Trinity High School Entrance, Gym and adjacent hallways.
Also on May 7, the Trinity Community Fair Association is hosting the annual crawfish boil at the Trinity Community Center on Robb Street. Tickets and tables will go on sale soon. Watch this space for details.
May 10 is Mother’s Day.
May 16 is the MSSC company picnic.
May 25 is Memorial Day.
Graduation activities will be announced next week, but probably the graduation ceremony will be held in Huntsville as usual.
People are already sending me June and July events, but I want to digest what I have going on now before I start on Summer. LOL. See you on Walker Street.
