Those were words of my younger brother on Christmas day. “Is this all we get?” We had a new electric train set and other gifts. And that wasn’t enough. A 3-year-old has a hard time understanding the real meaning of Christmas, let alone the deeper things of life.
Christmas is all but here. Many dollars are spent because of the need to give a gift or gifts. Merchants have learned that black Friday is a good way to lure people to their business and trap them into thinking they got a good deal. We live in a society that is not satisfied and wants and wants. What affects our society affects the church.
What is the Christian attitude to be? Some think, “Is this all we get?” and they go elsewhere supposedly because they are not getting what they want. And I would suggest that person will never be satisfied.
Our Savior went about doing good! I believe that’s what caused the early church to grow. They went about doing good. They knew that Christianity was not about them but about Him.
There is a song that has words, like, “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord.” Those words are true.
Matthew 6:33-34: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
