The All-District awards for volleyball and football were announced this week. In volleyball Lily Read was named District MVP, Sydney Brock- Defensive Player of the Year, Emma Byrd- Setter of the Year, Marae Pounds- Offensive Player of the Year, Lauren Citrano- 1st Team, Lily Payne- 1st Team, Ty Cochran- 1st Team, Kyli Handley- 2nd Team, and Josie Pecina- 2nd Team.
In football Jesse Bittick was named Offensive MVP and 1st Team Linebacker, Kasen Citrano- Co-Dffensive MVP and 1st Team Runningback, Turner Johnson- 1st Team Quarterback, Blake Zulpo- 1st Team Defensive Line, Jayse Gay- 1st Team Utility, Rex Gilzow-1st Team Center, Cutter Lowe- 1st Team Offensive Line, Bryson Swanson- 1st Team Cornerback, and Clay Busey- 2nd Team Corner.
The Lady Jacket basketball team started their season with a scrimmage in Apple Springs on Tuesday, Nov. 19. They made a good start beating the Lady Eagles 60-8. Sydney Brock led with 19 points. Ty Cochran had 16, Kyli Handley had 7, Abby Grimes 6, Carlen Sluga 4, Tegan Toler, Lauren Citrano, Allie Ogden, and Madi Myers each had two.
All of the Yellowjacket teams get a break for Thanksgiving but will meet back up on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The girls will start district vs Hull-Daisetta with game time scheduled for 6pm. The boys will follow vs Little Centerville in a non-district match. On Dec. 5-7 the Lady Jackets will participate in the Apple Springs Invitational and the boys will travel to Big Sandy for tournament action. The Lady Jacket basketball team started their season with a win against Apple Springs.
