SHEPHERD — For the second time in a week, the Lady Pirates faced off against the high-powered offense of the Diboll Lady Jacks. Unfortunately, the outcome mirrored their previous matchup, with the Lady Pirates falling 50-16 on Nov. 21.
Despite the score, the Lady Pirates showed noticeable improvements, addressing several technical errors from the first encounter and maintaining a positive tempo as they continue to prepare for district play.
The Lady Pirates’ scoring was steady across the game, with points per quarter totaling 1, 5, 9, and 2. A highlight for the team came in the form of two impressive three-point shots by Addison Kowis during the second and third quarters. Her performance offered a bright spot in an otherwise challenging game.
On Nov. 23, Shepherd downed Goodrich 51-14, and on Nov. 25, lost to New Waverly 52-35.
Coldspring
The Lady Trojans fell to Livingston in a tight matchup, 37-31, on Nov. 21.
Despite their best efforts, Coldspring couldn’t maintain their halftime lead, faltering in the decisive fourth quarter.
Ella Phillips led the charge for Coldspring with an impressive 14 points, shooting a perfect 2-for-2 at the foul line.
Akiah Harwig also contributed significantly with 12 points, going 2-for-6 from the free-throw line. Camiyah Hines added 2 points in the second half, while Alayla Goffney sparked early momentum with a three-pointer in the first quarter.
Scoring for the Lady Trojans was steady but tapered off as the game progressed, with quarter totals of 14, 14, 9, and 8 points. Livingston capitalized on their opportunities, outscoring Coldspring in the final frame to seal the victory.
