Memorial Day has come and gone. Your librarian has always celebrated our service members on this day. Really, we should thank them every day.
Our library has a large selection of books about war history. Some are for check out and others for reference. If you get some extra time and are interested in history, come by and visit. I think it will surprise you that we have one room dedicated to this subject.
• Your librarian is temporarily out of the library recovering from a broken hip. Doctors’ orders say I won’t be there for the summer. Good news is we have a wonderful lady who has graciously come to the rescue. She will be there during normal working hours Monday through Friday from 1-6 p.m.
The library will have activities for children this summer and they will be posted as the summer progresses. We are always looking for volunteers to help.
Please call the library at (936) 642-2483 if you or someone you know would like to read for story time.
Registration for the Summer Reading Program will start on Monday at 1 p.m. In addition to the special events throughout the summer we will conclude with an awards and pizza party on Thursday, July 31. These special events will appear in the paper and will also be posted on the library window.
• We would like to say a special thank you to Pat Centilli and Sha Howard for the wonderful work they did in the garden at the library. These members of our community took their valuable time to give the library and our community a special gift that everyone can enjoy. We are greatly appreciative and thank them very much.
• Texas Workforce Solutions will be in the library on Wednesday, June 18, from 1:30-4 p.m. This is a service offered to anyone who needs to make job applications or work on their resume. This service is free. Your librarian is in hope that this will help our community.
• Notary services at the library are suspended until your librarian can be in the office. We still offer computer access and copy and fax services.
The library hours are Monday through Friday from 1-6 p.m.
The phone number is (936) 642-2483.
