Election Day is Nov. 3 in the United States. This date marks the midway point through each four-year presidential election term. Midterm elections give voters a chance to choose local representatives, weigh in on state issues, and determine which party controls Congress.
Regardless of your party affiliation (Republican or Democrat), it’s important that you vote and allow your voice to be heard. Don’t complain if you don’t take the time to vote. Voting is one of our most cherished rights as an American.
In state and city elections, your vote can be the difference between a candidate who best represents you and your thought processes and one who does not. Case in point, last year in Trinity, one of the city council members kept his seat by one vote. Yes, your vote counts.
As each party jockeys for your vote, I encourage you to take the time and research the candidate your party is pushing. The last day to vote in Texas was October 5th, 2026. You can check your voter status by going to National Association of Secretaries of State website. After you choose your state in the drop-down menu, you will be sent to the state’s election website.
So, if you are registered to vote, what document(s) do you need to vote? There are seven to choose from a Texas driver’s license, a Texas ID card, A Texas election ID certification, a Texas license to carry a handgun, U.S. military ID, a U.S. citizen certificate containing the voter’s photograph, or a U.S. passport. If you don’t have any of these, a birth certificate, or some type of utility billing, etc., can be used.
Get involved and let your voice be heard. See you at polls.
