“The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo: Establishing the Border Between the U.S. and Mexico in 1848” is a new temporary exhibit that is open at the Polk County Memorial Museum through Feb. 28. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, formally named The Treaty of Peace, Friendship, Limits and Settlement Between the United States of America and the Mexican Republic, ended the Mexican-American War and established the border between the U.S. and Mexico. The treaty was signed on Feb. 2, 1848, and ratified on May 30, 1848. Learn about the war, the treaty negotiations and the major figures in this important, but often forgotten, part of history. The museum is located at 514 W. Mill St. in Livingston and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays and the second and fourth Saturdays. There is no charge to visit the museum.
