Polk County Emergency Management will participate in a statewide drill for local public warning systems on Thursday, April 2, 2026. As part of the drill, Polk County will send a test alert through AlertMePolkCounty, which delivers notifications by phone, text, and email. Residents must be registered to receive alerts, and can customize alert preferences.

Emergency Management will also test its connection to the federal Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS) by sending a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test message. This alert will appear on mobile devices similar to an Amber Alert. To receive WEA test messages, the Test Alerts option must be enabled under government alerts in mobile device settings.
