Thirty-two beds were built by the local organization Sleep in Heavenly Peace and delivered to children in Polk County during 2024.
Kim Brown Jernigan and Kaycee Hendrix provided an update on the program to the Livingston Lions Club during its noon meeting Wednesday. The group is hoping to deliver seven additional beds soon.
“We delivered eight to one house several weeks ago, so that should tell you about the need in Polk County,” Jernigan said.
Lion Cecil Langston reported that the annual golf tournament is slated for April 10 and the annual fish fry will be May 22. Lion Melissa McDonald reported that White Cane Day will be on March 7.
Lion Mike Shukan reported that he needs someone to take over the Christmas tree sales in the future and that two people are needed. He also informed the club that the 3rd annual Leo Club Talent Show is coming up later this spring.
It was reported that Texas Lions Camp applications are now eligible to be turned in, so if anyone knows of any children with qualifying disabilities they are encouraged to apply.
Acting President Jared Jernigan presented 37 attendance pins to various Lions.
