SHEPHERD — Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a fatal crash on Farm-to-Market Road 3460 in Shepherd that occurred Saturday.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 6:50 p.m., a riding lawn mower towing a small trailer was traveling south, while a 2001 Cadillac passenger car also was traveling south and struck lawn mower.
The driver of the Cadillac then left the scene but was located a short time later.
The driver of the Cadillac, 54-year-old Michael Davis of Shepherd, was not injured. Davis was placed under arrest on charges of failure to stop and render aid causing injury or death, a felony offense.
The rider of the lawn mower, 63-year-old Jonny Fowler of Shepherd, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace.
The investigation is continuing.
