Pet event shows off beauty, talent

Posted

There were too many events this weekend for me to attend but one, so I chose the Pet Expo as it was the service organization that I have belonged to for the longest time. The Trinity Lions Club’s fall fundraiser was a huge success and a fun time for the entire community.

During the Pet and Talent Show inside the Trinity Community Center, the Trinity Police Department also assisted in an outside Trinity Community Center stray animal adoption program at this time. The weather was perfect.

•Groveton High School had its homecoming this Friday and from the looks of things, it was fabulous and full of color. Two girls I have known since birth were two of the Homecoming Queen’s Court. One girl was a princess and the other a duchess. Congratulations to the Kane sisters. They were beautiful in their homecoming attire.

•The next three events coming this weekend are: first, Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church’s bingo and chicken barbecue is Friday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. Second event is Saturday, Oct. 25, and is the Wall of Honor fundraiser, hosted by the Trinity County Veterans, at noon on FM 356 at Scheelbillies. And third is Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church’s Fall Festival held on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 11:30 a.m. at 401 N. Prospect St.

Last week I elaborated on the prizes to be given away at the Wall of Honor Fundraiser, and this issue I will announce the prizes for the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church for Sunday, Oct. 26. The raffle prizes include:

  • 42” Cub Cadet riding lawnmower
  • A $2,000 Visa gift card
  • A $1,000 Visa gift card
  • Icon Fra.M.Ed silver/gold Jesus blessing
  • Samsung 55-inch Smart TV
  • $500 Visa gift card
  • Stainless steel cookware (Princess House)
  • iPad 11th Generation (Wifi)
  • Apple Watch series 10 (Gps, 42mm)
  • Rtic Cooler

Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. The drawing is Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. You need not be present to win.

A personal side note: Lanora Ainsworth and I are going to have a booth at this fall festival. We have always attended this event but not participated in the fundraiser. We sell baked goods, candy, jewelry and fall item baskets, so please come out and support this Church’s charities and youth organizations.

Two events coming in November that I will be attending are the Decades Dash Purse Bingo Bash at Camp Cullen and the First Methodist Church of Trinity’s Rummage Sale on Elm Street.

It is the Foundation’s second Bingo night held at the camp. At 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, the doors open to the most scenic atmosphere, delicious food, and awesome caterers.

The theme this year is “Decades Dash,” so please wear your favorite decade, and bring decorations for your table in the same manner. My favorite decade is the 1960s. Last year Tom Hester was the emcee, and he was delightful.

A single ticket costs $40 and a table costs $350. Tickets include dinner, one game pack, a dauber, and a door prize. Camp Cullen is at 460 Cullen Loop in Trinity. For more information, please call (936) 662-8180.

Second is the First Methodist Church’s Rummage Sale in the Church’s fellowship hall at 301 N. Elm Street, held from Nov. 13-15.
