In my role as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, I had the opportunity to meet with Postmaster General David Steiner last Friday.
We discussed his plans to strengthen and modernize the U.S. Postal Service to ensure it continues serving Americans reliably in the years ahead. From new technology to operational reforms, our conversation covered important steps being taken to improve efficiency and customer service.
The Postal Service is essential to our communities, and it is vital that we maintain its stability and effectiveness. I look forward to working closely with Postmaster General Steiner in improving the Postal Service.
Last weekend, I was cheering on the Bearkats as they faced the University of Texas Longhorns in Austin. While the outcome wasn’t favorable for our Bearkats, nothing compares to attending a live college football game. I enjoyed my time with SHSU President White and other SHSU leaders.
College football is more than the score, it is about community, tradition, and school pride. I am proud of the Bearkats’ determination and will always say Eat Em Up, Kats!
Last week, I was honored to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Lufkin for Gattefossé’s new manufacturing facility. The company’s investment highlights the strength and capability of East Texas’ world-class workforce.
This facility will not only create jobs but also support innovation and international cooperation in our local economy. By bringing advanced manufacturing opportunities to the area, Gattefossé is helping strengthen our community’s long-term growth.
I look forward to seeing the new partnerships, training opportunities, and economic benefits this project will generate. It was inspiring to see global investment meet local talent, paving the way for a stronger East Texas economy.
On Tuesday, I had the privilege of attending the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce banquet. Events like these remind me how important it is to stay connected with the business leaders and entrepreneurs who keep our local economy strong.
The Chamber plays a vital role in supporting growth, advocating for businesses, and fostering a sense of community across Nacogdoches. I truly value the chance to hear directly from leaders about both the opportunities and challenges they face. Their input helps guide my work in Congress to ensure we are advancing policies that support economic development.
It was a pleasure to celebrate their hard work and dedication to our region’s success.
On Thursday, I had the opportunity to visit Huntsville and meet with the leaders of Meals on Wheels Walker County. This incredible organization is on the front lines of serving our seniors and vulnerable residents, providing not only meals but also care and compassion.
Their dedication ensures that no one in our community goes hungry or feels forgotten. I was inspired by the commitment of the staff and volunteers who make this mission possible every day.
