The House took decisive action to protect the integrity of our elections by passing the SAVE America Act last week.
I voted in favor of the SAVE America Act to ensure that only United States citizens are able to vote in federal elections and that valid identification is required. More than 80 percent of Americans support these commonsense protections, which are critical to preserving trust and confidence in our democratic process.
I also spent the week meeting with leaders and stakeholders from across Texas’ 17th Congressional District, including community colleges, rural health advocates, and national patient organizations, to discuss workforce development, healthcare access, and the challenges facing families across our district.
In addition, I participated in a House Financial Services Committee hearing with SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins and met with healthcare and business leaders to discuss investment, improved access to care, and economic growth in Texas.
Thank you for staying engaged and for the thoughtful feedback many of you shared throughout this process. I remain committed to tackling these challenges with transparency, a readiness to work across the aisle, and a steadfast focus on protecting taxpayers and strengthening the long-term economic health of Texas and our nation.
As always, it is an honor to serve the people of TX-17. I will continue fighting to protect our freedoms, strengthen our economy, and deliver results for our district.
I met with the Texas Rural Health Association as well as community health center leaders from across Texas’ 17th Congressional District to discuss rural health care priorities specific to Texas and the unique challenges facing communities throughout the district.
Our discussions focused on workforce initiatives, preserving local control, and ensuring that rural hospitals and community health centers have the resources they need to provide care and meet the needs of our communities.
We also discussed how targeted federal support, including new funding for rural hospitals and community health centers, can be used responsibly to expand access to care, strengthen the healthcare workforce, and build a sustainable rural healthcare system that serves Texans for the next five years and beyond.
I met with the National Breast Cancer Coalition to discuss research priorities, patient centered care, and improving outcomes for individuals and families impacted by breast cancer.
During a House Financial Services Committee hearing, I questioned SEC Chairman Paul Atkins on the Commission’s regulatory priorities, capital formation, and ensuring that federal oversight does not stifle economic growth. I emphasized the importance of balanced regulation that protects investors while preserving access to capital for small businesses and innovators.
I met with leadership from Mitsubishi to discuss the strong and enduring relationship between the United States and Japan and their continued investment in American jobs. We discussed Mitsubishi’s growing investments in Texas’ 17th Congressional District, their support for domestic manufacturing, and how these investments strengthen local communities across the district.
Our conversation also focused on energy dominance and how a strong U.S. energy sector is essential to the prosperity of the Texas economy, job creation, and America’s long term global competitiveness.
