Saturday was a howling success. The churches had Trunk or Treats, the VFW had coloring and costume contests, the City of Trinity had Treats on the Street and haunted houses frightened all.
The weather tried to scare everyone off their game plans, but the evening turned out well for everybody. Even the dentists will be please in a couple of months.
However, the best part of all is we all got an extra hour of sleep. Each year time changes scare everybody. First, you’re too late and then you are too early. I feel sorry for the Pacific Time change because they must adjust to all the time changes.
With one of my favorite months of the year gone, we are now on to November, (my second favorite month of the year), Thanksgiving activities and holidays. My real name for November is “The Giving Month,” or the “Naughty or Nice Month.”
In November, we give thanks for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We celebrate life with bountifulness, i.e., Thanksgiving dinner, we honor our Veterans with their day while we warn children if they are not nice, their happiness will be limited in the next month.
•There are several Thanksgiving luncheons being held this month; some are free and some are not.
Free is the Sebastopol Community Church Luncheon on Nov. 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to dine in. The menu is turkey, ham, dressing, yams, green beans, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls, and dessert.
Delivery options available for those who qualify. Delivery orders must be submitted no later than Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. Please contact Karen Black at (512) 909-6143 or Pastor Kevin Smith at (936) 994-2232 to make delivery arrangements.
Martin Senior Service Center will host its Thanksgiving luncheon on Friday, Nov. 20, on Walker Street from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., but it is not free. Cost is $10 for each person and people over 80 years young will pay only $5. The menu will be Thanksgiving items, of course.
The Trinity Lions Club will draw the winning ticket for the RTIC Traveling Cooler with accessories at this luncheon. This raffle started selling during the Trinity Community Fair in October. You do not have to be present to win.
Tickets will be sold until the drawing is held at the Martin Center at noon on Friday, Nov. 20. One ticket is $5 or 5 tickets for $20. Value of the giveaway is $600. For more details call Trevor at (936) 594-5700 or Sherry at (936) 594-2625.
•There is a downtown event that will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. It is called “Sip and Shop” to celebrate the Trinity Community businesses downtown and surrounding areas to promote their services or wares in front of their local shops.
I will announce businesses that will participate in this event next week as they show their places to be open on that evening on Facebook. As of now, I know River Pointe Rehabilitation Health Center, Vidal Salon, and The Way You live will participate on East Main Street.
•Breaking news: A new business is in town and a new one is coming to town.
This weekend on Saturday there was a grand opening on North Robb Street across from the Trinity Gift and Flower Shop, and I believe the name is the Trinity Trade Store. There were wonderful pictures of people who have set up mini shops inside this facility and there is room for more. Go by and see these new entrepreneurs.
