The Trinity Tigers were victorious on the football field last Thursday and Friday and our bragging rights are good for another year. I was going to go watch the game on Friday night, but my friend called me and said to not bother unless I wanted to stand up outside the fence or watch from the car on Trinlady Road. So, I settled for live reports every quarter. Way to go Tigers.
By the way, Trinity Football Homecoming Game is Oct. 3. The events before the Game start at 7 p.m. There is a Tailgate Party before the Game, but I do not have details on this event where and when. Don’t forget the Girls Volleyball game that Friday at 4:30-5:30 in the Gym, also.
•When you read this article, you will have missed a celebration, a dance, a dinner, and a Christian Women’s inspirational meeting in Crockett, plus an Under Youth 14 Baseball Tournament in Marshall. I mention Marshall, because it is on my bucket list to go this last year and celebrate their Christmas City of Lights and decorations downtown on the town square.
I have people asking about the Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Christmas show, and as far as I know, it is the first Saturday in December like always. Jonathan Minson, who has emceed this event for the last seven years, has committed to announcing our event on this day in 2025 already. There are many reasons why I have requested his services. He is faithful to his work, always on time, has a wonderful speaking voice, knows his craft, brings his own equipment, and has the knowledge of what each performer needs to perform on stage with or without their own apparatus, thus enabling them to leave heavy equipment at home or in their studio.
•If you witness paraphernalia at the fairgrounds, it takes the performers an hour to set up their equipment and an hour to tear it down and pack it away after their gig. Thank God for your people who are technically sound and can make our lives more enjoyable and comfortable in less time than the “old days.”
•Next, a repeat of events still to come and if any new ones are added, I will expound on them with highlights during the week of the event.

•I have heard a lot of rumors about what the City of Trinity proposes for the next five years regarding our sales taxes and property taxes, and I really am concerned about what this will mean for the residents of Trinity. In five years, I hope I am alive, but every day at my age is not a given.
While the tax rate proposed is small, if it keeps increasing, will people go to Huntsville to shop and eliminate the Trinity businesses? I don’t know if people can afford these increases, while the county is also asking us to help pay to build a new county jail.
Most of you know I have lived here for the last 28 years of my life, and the above thoughts are my own and not this newspaper’s. I love Trinity and I believe we have a lot of needs and genuinely need improvements, but I do not know the answers to why the leaders of Trinity County did not plan for growth 10 years ago when the world was a kinder place. Now everybody has an opinion that fits their agenda, but they do not care about the needs of others. Remember, this sermon was my free opinion.
