Trinity shows its heart with fabulous fundraiser

Posted

There was so much happening this weekend that I could not take it all in my brain or in stride. There was the community-wide garage sale at Westwood Shores, a car show downtown, and the Kalin Center fundraiser at the Manor Saturday Night.

I guess the biggest feat was the amount of money the Kalin Center raised to support the organization located in Crockett. Pictures of the event were posted online announcing that they had raised $125,000 at this gala. Congratulations to the volunteers and their donors.

•On Easter Sunday, the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department had a fabulous Fish Fry and would like to thank everyone who attended and supported this event. The benefit made more than $9,000 in contributions. Thank you Trinity.

•The Trinity Lions Club Classic Car Show was a wonderful event also. The weather was threatening during the morning hours, but by afternoon, the crowd was growing. Beautiful cars, trucks, and two old antique firetrucks were on display, and the event benefitted the Trinity Lions Club’s charities and scholarships for TISD Seniors for this school term 2025-2026.

April 18, is the TISD Junior/Senior Prom.

•On April 21 First Methodist Church of Trinity is hosting its monthly Dinner with Friends starting at 4:30 p.m. and ending at 6 p.m. The church is located at 131 N. Elm St. behind the Post Office. Games, food, and music abound.

•On April 24-25 in Crockett is the Camp Street Blues Festival. The event is being held on Goliad, Fannin, and Camp streets with most activities held on Saturday at Lightnin’ Hopkins Park across from the Camp Street Camp and Store, which is located at 215 S. Third St.

Scheduled to perform on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Bear Hall is The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Sue Foley, Misty Blue, Mustang Red, and Texas Flood, a Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute band.

Sponsors for this event include, Knox Furniture Camp Street Café & Store, Bear Hall, the Stesti Beer Garden and Crockett’s KIVY Radio Station. To purchase tickets for Friday and Saturday go to www.DiscoverCrockettX.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Gate on Third Street.

Events planned for Saturday start at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day. There is a car/truck show, a blues and bones dog parade, an art walk, food vendors and live blues music performed in the afternoon and into the evening.
