The Valentine Luncheon at the Martin Senior Citizen Center last Friday was a huge success. Every seat was filled with jovial couples and singles, and a fun time was had by all. Food, drink, trivia, bingo, and music was the agenda for two hours; and all that was left was for the seniors to go home and take a nap.
Our next adventure at the Martin Center will probably be an Easter-related event or dinner. I will mention the Easter egg hunts I know about now, and any Easter events that will arise for you to attend as they get announced in the coming weeks.
At this time regarding the Martin Senior Citizen Center, I need to tell you something important regarding your loved one or neighbor who might need help with groceries or meals delivered to their home each week.
The HHSC provides financial support for elderly people who need assistance with food or meals delivered to their home, but you must call this number and register to get assistance.
The HHSC Telephone Number is (877) 317-2121.
They will ask you the following questions.
Before you hang up make sure you get a client number. Without a number, you won’t be able to find out anything about your case. As long as you have the client number, Martin Senior Center can go ahead and get you a few meals until you are approved on the Home-Delivered Meal Program.
For more information, please call Rick Sterner at (936) 594-2625 at the Center on Walker Street from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
•The Easter Holidays are celebrated this year after most schools have celebrated their annual Spring Breaks. It is my duty to tell you that the first six months of 2026 will make you fatter or happier because Trinity has some school, church, or group-related events to test your resolve during these times.

•I do not know how the Love Fest in Lovelady Texas went Saturday, but I am sure it went well. I will be reporting on Groveton’s County Fair and Livestock Show and their events next week as it is always held during their week of Spring break.
•I watched the Olympics this year, but I am not as avid a fan as I used to be, even though my favorite sport is ice skating. The couples dancing and skating on Ice has really changed since the nineties. Their dances are more intricate, more dangerous, and faster. I love their exotic dance costumes.
Do you remember all the drama regarding three prima donnas in the ‘80s and ‘90s with pre-planned accidents by Tanya Harding against Nancy Kerrigan? Then you are as old as I am. LOL.
•Most of you know that the Trinity Lions Club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month regularly, but if there is a fifth Wednesday of any month, we meet on the fifth Wednesday also.
The Trinity Lions Club has lunch, a business meeting the first Wednesday, and a program on the third Wednesday to promote the community or bring knowledge about events or history of the county.
Each member chooses a topic or program to bring to the Club members during this time. We have a lot of interesting programs brought to the meeting over the years and one of the most interesting ones was the making of the Sam Houston Statue.
If I can reach the lady who presented this program years ago, I am going to present this story when it is my turn to present my program. Watch this space.
I will give you one detail at this time about the Sam Houston Statue that was built between 1992-1994. It is the world’s largest statue of an American hero standing at 67 feet tall, titled “A Tribute to Courage.”
This truly reflects the audacity of the sculptor’s project to build such a massive permanent landmark.
See you at the voting booth next month.
