With all the rain this past weekend, nearly every event for April 4th and 5th has been changed to April 11th and 12th. Some of the events were able to precede, but some were not able to finish their timeline, but completed enough not to reschedule.
The Trinity County Democratic Party Picnic scheduled for April 4 has been rescheduled to April 12, and to a new location in Groveton. The new location is 204 Hickory Ridge Lane, off Highway 287 out of Groveton going toward Corrigan.
The picnic will now be held at the home of Tina Taylor. Bring your favorite beverage and a picnic food. No chairs needed. The public is invited to attend. For more information, please call Penny Willmann at (936) 581-0089.
• The Trinity Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Fish Dinner was a huge success Sunday despite the rainy weather. The food was delicious. I didn’t believe they could prepare the dinner better this year than last year, but I believe they did. Hats off to these cooks and their wonderful fundraiser.
In my opinion, I think there should be one special day that all the male cooks in Trinity County could compete for the Community Male Cook of the Year Award, winning cash and prizes with their choice of entrée and sides.
• Trinity VFW Post 6899 had their monthly Maxie and Eddie Dance this weekend and had a successful bake sale to help raise money to repair the VFW dance floor. Every year the VFW has fundraisers to help our veterans, but they also serve as an emergency shelter for disaster victims, for both veteran and non-veteran families in Trinity County.
They also host blood drives quarterly for our community citizens and hold patriotic contests for Trinity County students to win prizes and scholarships each year. However, my favorite events are for younger children. They are the annual community Easter egg hunt and Let’s Make a Difference Day usually held in the fall.
• Saturday sees a lot of events taking place all over the county. Three are the Trinity Lions Club third annual Car Show, the Katlin Center annual fundraiser, the First Presbyterian Church Rummage Sale, and a fourth event is not a fundraiser, but Blanche K. Werner Public Library has games, fun, and stories for children from 10a.m.-1 p.m. on this day.
• For the past two weeks, I have been citing the wrong dates for Good Friday and Easter Sunday in my event schedules. I apologize and I hope I have not caused too much confusion for anyone. I am checking my event schedule carefully this week and for next week.
Here are the details on two Easter Special Egg Hunts in Trinity City.

Entry is free for all. Age groups are 1-4, 5-7, 8-10. For more information, please call Kadi Dean at (936) 252-6173.
• Trinity VFW Post 6899 at 400 Caroline St. is hosting its Annual Special Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 19, at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be candy eggs, golden eggs, games, prizes, and free hot dogs. • Trinity Lions Club is hosting their third annual Classic Car Show on Saturday at 103 Stadium St. near the old football field and the Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Building from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Entry fee is free, but a food donation would be nice to help our food pantries, and especially the Martin Senior Citizen Center shut-ins.
The car show entry fee is $20 which includes a T-shirt, a gift bag, and trophies for more than 50 awards. For the children, there will be a bouncy house and snow cones, and for the adults the Allbright Concession Wagon will serve the attendees a full menu. For more information, please call Holly Reece at (936) 293-6007.
• Martin Senior Citizen Center is having an Easter luncheon on April 16 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for each luncheon plate. Fun and games are planned for your enjoyment which includes an Easter egg giveaway, Easter raffles, dessert auction and door prizes. For more information, please call Rick or Sherrie at (936) 594-2625.
• Trinity Youth Baseball and Softball is underway now so, watch out for the children and cars on Stadium Street. With games and the Car Show on Saturday, the baseball parking lots, football field, McDonald’s Restaurant, and Trinity Community Fair Association lot will be very busy, and small children are hard to see unless they are accompanied by an adult.
See you at the Trinity Lions Club Car Show on Saturday.
