WOODVILLE – Edmon Willette, a singer/songwriter based out of the Orange area, will be the guest at the January installment of Pickin’ at the Pickett House, this Friday, Jan. 31.
Willette will perform solo acoustic and the music will go from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Pickett House invites everyone to come out and enjoy a fried fish dinner and some good tunes during its live music showcase, which occurs every last Friday of the month.
Willette is preparing to release his debut single “Listening to the Rain,” and he is already developing a following among live music connoisseurs, and fellow musicians, in the region, for his literate lyrics, catchy melodies and unique style.
Most of his music falls in a more traditional country vein, with a large degree of influence owed to Texas storytelling songwriters, as well as old cowboy singers. He has been heavily influenced, as well, by the Turnpike Troubadours and artists like Brent Cobb.
Alongside his original songs, Willette also draws from a large repertoire of tasteful cover songs, ranging from classic country to some surprises, such as Meat Loaf’s “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad.”
