WOODVILLE – Captain James “Radar” Riley keynoted the annual Tyler County Texas Farm Bureau banquet Monday evening at the Woodville First Baptist Church’s Family Life Center.
Riley was a 39-year veteran with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and encouraged all on a host of safety and personal security issues, including phone scams and getting home cameras. Local bureau president Wade Skinner led the program, which included an award to bureau secretary/treasurer and Warren ISD Ag teacher Jacob Spivey and songs by Tyler County Tax Assessor Melissa Carson. About 300 attendees enjoyed a fish fry by Rump’s BBQ.
The local bureau reelected the president and board members, has 3,083 members, has given $12,000 to the Tyler County Fair, $9,000 in local school scholarships, $2,000 in wildfire relief and has given to other projects.
