WOODVILLE – Spring is in the air, and around these parts, that means ‘It’s Dogwood Time in Tyler County’.
The 82nd Annual Tyler County Dogwood Festival is set to kick off with the much-anticipated Festival of the Arts on Saturday, March 22, and Sunday, March 23. This exciting weekend will offer visitors the chance to step back in time and celebrate the rich history and culture of Tyler County.
The Festival of the Arts takes place at Heritage Village, where guests can enjoy a tour of the special Dogwood Festival exhibit.
This year’s display will feature coronation gowns from former Dogwood Festival queens, as well as memorabilia from past festivals. In addition to the exhibit, visitors can take a guided tour of the Clyde Gray House Museum, which will showcase a collection of artifacts from the life of Village founder Clyde Gray. The Piney Wood Lakes Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists will be there to share tips on preserving and enhancing our beautiful natural resources.
Throughout the weekend, Heritage Village will be bustling with activities, including live music, a quilt show, and a buggy and wagon exhibit. Festival-goers can experience the charm of yesteryear while strolling through the village, enjoying the sights and sounds of traditional East Texas heritage.
The festival gates open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, with festivities running until 3 p.m. On Sunday, March 23, one of the weekend’s most beloved traditions, Dinner on the Grounds, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This special event will feature a delicious home-cooked meal served outdoors, accompanied by live entertainment. Tickets for Dinner on the Grounds are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years of age.
For those looking for a classic southern dining experience, the renowned Pickett House Restaurant will be serving its famous family-style meal of fried chicken, dumplings, and fresh vegetables. The Pickett House will be open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
