WOODVILLE – A grant obtained by the city of Woodville through the General Land Office (GLO) LCP program is on the agenda for a special-called meeting of the Woodville City Council on Thursday.
The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. at City Hall, and on the agenda are three items pertaining to the grant. Council will consider approving a grant administrator; an engineering firm and a resolution to submit the application to the GLO for the grant.
The LCP, or Disasters Local Communities Program, saw a funding allocation of $97 million in 2024 for disaster relief, long-term recovery and restoration of infrastructure as well as economic revitalization projects for eligible communities. According to the GLO, this program helps to address long-term recovery needs in disaster-impacted areas.
Woodville was impacted in 2024 by straight-line winds and flooding, and the city submitted an application to the program for $5 million in March. Woodville was approved for the funding through the program, and the city is looking to submit a full proposal for projects covered under the grant particulars.
Also on the agenda for Thursday’s special-called meeting is the consideration to redefine the closure along Charlton Street for the Second Saturday events.
The city will also consider for approval a tax abatement on the property located at 710 South Magnolia Street, which is the former location of Family Dollar. The property was purchased recently by Woodville Properties, LLC, which, according to records, was filed with the Secretary of State as an LLC by Koshy Alexander, a Lufkin CPA.
